About

Fearless.  Energetic.  Passionate.  These are just a few hallmarks that define the music of Dear Genre.  Dear Genre is more than just the stage name of artist Andre Cataldo, it’s a statement about the freedom that is possible inside a great melody.   It’s about following the inspiration wherever it goes – even if that crosses the barriers of genre and stereotypes.  It’s about sharing the moment in a song with the listener.

Born in Curitiba, Brazil in 1992 and moving to the US at a very young age, Andre was already showing signs of the music that was in his blood.  By age four he had begun playing drums, but quickly moved on to other instruments making music with whatever he could get his hands on.  After playing in various projects as a drummer, Andre began to explore songwriting as an exercise in creativity for fun with no rules or expectations.   He began to craft melodies and ideas inspired by abstract art, nature and psychedelia.  As the songs started to grow, it was apparent that taking a backseat wasn’t going to be enough for him anymore.  What started as an experiment eventually grew into what is now Dear Genre.

With the release of his first record You Put The Fear In Atmosphere in late 2010, and show dates in the works for 2011 with a full backing band, it’s easy to see that the artistic landscape is wide open for Dear Genre…
